My Cross-Country Road Trip Journal 8/11/08 to 8/18/08

Monday, August 11, 2008
10:30pm
Somewhere near the west border of Pennsylvania (Rt. 70 West, around mile marker 22)

Hi everyone,

This is Tasha starting her travel journal. Right now we're stuck in traffic somewhere near the west end of PA, that kinda sucks lol. But it's been interesting so far. PA has a lot of trees and stuff. We kinda had a late start to our day because we had to pick up some things for the road, especially a MacBook Pro. Oh yes. Our gift to ourself lol. But now we can easily document things as we continue to travel towards the West Coast. We were supposed to start traveling at 10am, but of course, that did not happen. It was really hard to pack up and leave. I was trying to delay the inevitable, but alas, it was time to go.

Let me actually start from last night. People came over to my house for Fred & my gift-opening/farewell party. A LOT of tears were shed. It was especially hard for me to say goodbye to my little cousins. Man oh man. Then saying goodbye to all my friends was harsh too. Tears even came from those who I've never seen cry. I am going to miss all of them. I still keep thinking about just how helpful everyone was for the wedding. How everyone pulled together to help me and Fred make our day as fun and memorable as possible. I can't stop thanking them enough. And above all, how wonderful God has been throughout this whole process. Saying goodbye was not easy. While I am excited to see what life is like on the West Coast, I could not easily and readily walk away from my life on the East Coast..

Which brings me to today. Saying goodbye to my ateh and to my parents left me sobbing. I've only seen my dad cry 3 times in my life – and one of those times was today. The other times were when his mom died like 10 years ago and when he watched the movie Powder (why would he cry, I do not know). But yeah, I didn't expect to see my dad cry today. It broke my heart even more. We've had our differences, but now that it was time to part we both realized we weren't completely ready to face it. And my poor mom. My poor poor mom. I can't even write about it anymore without tearing up. I left her my baby penguin to keep her company. She called me up to ask me why I left it. And I told her it's because I want it to keep her company while I'm gone.

I miss them so much, but okay, time to focus on what's going on right now…

But now I will tell you what I've been up to since our official departure around 3:30pm from Philadelphia. We made two stops. One at a rest stop around 6:30pm.. and then one stop at Walmart & Starbucks in Belle Vernon, PA around 8:30pm. We got some drinks and Ipod touch accessories at Walmart and drove the wrong way down a random one-way street – yay for Fred, lol! I drove for the first 3 hours and Fred has been driving ever since. We will probably switch off soon because the car seems to be swaying a little bit while I've been typing lol. Plus, Fred keeps yawning hehe.

We're running very much behind schedule, we're supposed to be in Covington, KY by around 2:45am. Yeah, we booked our hotel this morning and because we left later than expected we must now suffer lol. But hopefully we'll get there sooner than 2:45am lol. Right now we're in Buffalo, PA and it's 11pm.

Random observations so far… lots of moo cows and awesome sunset. Purple skies and clouds down in the valleys. Signs for falling rocks and lots of curvy highways. Hills filled with trees and tunnels that run straight through the bases of mountains. Plenty of highways with no night lights, just reflectors.

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

So we ended up getting to the Marriott in Covington, KY at like 3:11am lol. Whoops. But it's okay, we made it and it felt so good to just not be driving. After sleeping in a bit, we got some really good room service and admired the scenery. We could see a few bridges, a football stadium, and see Cincinnati, OH across the river from where we were. Pretty cool sights. We decided to drive down near the bridges and some random dude on a motorcycle offered to take our pictures and told us the history of how the London Bridge was actually modeled after the bridge on our right. Thank you random guy on motorcycle. Okay let's continue our drive to Columbia Missouri where we plan to get our first bubble tea…

1:34pm, Central Time

Hi everyone,
We're driving towards Kansas City, Missouri right now. Last night we made it to Columbia, Missouri where we got our first road trip bubble tea from the Lollicup there. It's near University of Missouri. We must have looked like such tourists b/c we came in all smiling and with the video camera out and just looked so amazed. The ladies there were so helpful and nice. They were probably wondering why we seemed so excited about bubble tea hahaha. We each got two bubble teas (me – caramel & thai; Fred – taro & royal milk). We filled them in on our bubble tea adventure and also on how we met. They seemed so happy for us. We took pictures with them and then looked up our hotel for the night.

We ended up staying at the Hilton Garden Inn. It was pretty nice and spiffy. Breakfast buffet was surprisingly only $8.95. And it was really good. And now we're on our way to Kansas City. We plan to try out some ribs at a place called Arthur Bryant's which was in our Road Trip book that my friend Grace from work gave me. I'm hungry hahaha. But we should be there in less than an hour. We're also gonna buy a SLR professional camera to take nicer pictures. Then we'll continue another 3 hours to Hays, Kansas.

Observations of Missouri and Illinois… lots of grass & farms. And random Fireworks superstores. Also, at the major cities we've been to, everything's very.. spacious and spread out. It all looks relatively new and modern.

1:55pm, Central Time

Wow, now we're nearing Kansas City, I'm starting to see civilization. Things are very big out here too. There's this random song on the ITouch playing. The song's like, "Everyone's a little bit racist, everyone makes judgments based on race!" LOL.

We went to a Best Buy in Missouri, south of Kansas City. We got the Nikkon D60 with various accessories. Fred is very very happy. I'm happy too, but I probably cannot fathom the joy that Fred has for it lol. He kept thanking me for allowing him to spend some of our wedding money for it hahaha.

9:30pm, Central Time

We're now in Hays, Kansas.  Oh, some random observations first.  On the drive through Kansas, there were a lot of grassy hills.  And not just regular hills... they were very pronounced hills.. something like the ones on the TV show Telletubbies.  Like, very round small hills with random trees on it.  Secondly, you can go like hundreds of miles and see nothing but farms, cows, steers, and these rolls of layers of grass.  Look at my picasa account to see what I'm talking about.  What are those layers of grass rolled up for?  They are scary.  Ummm, we're in the Days Inn tonight and while it's alright, the area is a little questionable.  But we should be alright.

Thurday, August 14, 2008

A summary of this day… let me recall. We stayed in Days Inn at Hays, Kansas. Seemed like a questionable neighborhood, but we knew that we were safe in God's hands.. thank God. We started our journey sort of late (as is always the case) but it's all good. We began our 5 ½ hour trek to Denver, Colorado. We left early enough that we'd be able to get Bubble Tea and settle into the hotel room before worship service. Fred got a 4-star hotel for mad cheap – Hyatt. It was worth it too. Very very nice. We got a room on the 32nd floor overlooking Denver downtown. And the interior decorating was awesome. Gives me ideas for our future place hehe.

Denver.. got to experience some good ol' traffic, but it wasn't that bad. The stores and stuff out there are all so big. Walmart, Home Depot, etc.. very big. The Lollicup we went to was in a predominantly Vietnamese area. There were two Lollicups in Denver, apparently we went to the more shady one lol. Somewhat a runned down neighborhood, but not too ghetto. As for the Lollicup workers, not as warm of a welcome, but the bubble tea was very very good. After we checked out the Lollicup, we went around the corner to see the Denver Chapel. Very cute chapel.

Then we headed to the Hyatt. Settled in and determined we were hungry. We went across the street from the hotel to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Food was awesome. I usually get salmon if they have it, and I was not disappointed. The salmon was the pinkest I've ever seen. And it came with these little peas… they were dark green, not snow peas but something else that had a rich flavor to it. It was just interesting b/c the next morning at the hotel, Fred ordered smoked salmon for breakfast and it was bright pink and came with those peas as well lol. Anyways, back to the meal. I've never been to Bubba Gump so it was a really cool first experience. They have these signs that say "Run Forrest Run" and "Stop Forrest Stop" on your table. The "Stop Forrest Stop" is red and when you flip that sign to show, it gets your waiter's attention that you need something. Anyway, the salmon was the best I've ever had. We of course had to get some memorabilia, so Fred got a "Stupid is as stupid does." Shirt and I got a "Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. 4th Annual Ping Pong Tournament" shirt hehe. Plus some postcards and a mini ping pong paddle keychain. So after eating, went back to the hotel and got ready for church.

Although the Denver chapel is small and quaint, the welcome we received later that day was big and warm. You can sense the friendliness of all the brethren as soon as you enter the chapel. Fred found that some of his friends were actually in that locale. It's a small world! So we spent some time exploring connections. Then we headed back to the Hyatt.

I took about 600 pictures that day with the new camera. I really like it mucho hahaha. But we haven't posted pictures b/c we really have to sort through them. So it will probably be a few days still.

Friday, August 15, 2008

So we were able to leave somewhat early, I think by 8am. After getting awesome room service and stuffing our faces, we set out of Denver, which was rather rainy that morning. We set out to Cortez, Colorado, which would be about a 7 hour drive. Boo. But somehow we made it there. Along the way, I have to admit, there was a decent amount of scenery. We basically zigzagged through the Rocky Mountains and took in fresh air and plenty of sights. For a while, we were on US-50 which ran alongside the Arkansas River for many miles. Fred was asleep for a good portion of it, he missed out, loser. Lol. It's okay, he had done a large portion of the driving so I let him rest. And took pictures of him while he was knocked out lol. But I stopped here and there and made him take pictures of me on rocks and by rivers lol.

I kept seeing these wildflowers that look somewhat like mini sunflowers. They were everywhere. So I wanted one to flatten and keep in a book so it can eventually go into our roadtrip scrapbook. I pulled over and Fred ran about 1/8 of a mile back down the road to get me one. Thank you Fred! My hero.

What's interesting is just that you'd see random houses interspersed amongst the evergreens in the mountains and the hills. I just wonder how they get stuff? Groceries, water, etc.? There's like NOTHING around! It's just amazing how people can live in the middle of nowhere. I mean, if you have a farm, you're pretty alright. I just think I'd get bored, and miss Walmart and Target. Hahaha.

Saturday, August 16, 2008

At Cortez, we stayed at Best Western Inn. It wasn't so bad, they had free mouthwash. So that's cool. HAHAHA. And they had pools, one indoor and one outdoor, but we didn't stay long enough to utilize them, boo. That's okay though. We got us some good continental breakfast (they had eggs and waffles, yay!) and were on our way by 10am.

By 11:30am, we arrived at the Four Corners Monument. So we took some pictures and tried some Navajo frybread, which basically is the same consistency as funnel bread, but without the holes. Fred wanted powdered sugar as the topping – bad idea. Due to the wind factor and the inherent messiness that powdered sugar possesses, that stuff ended up being HIS topping (on his face), and I have some amusing pictures as a result.

It's 11:56am right now, and we're on the road to the Grand Canyon. We have a little less than 5 hours to go - woohoo! Note the excitement in my typing hahaha. Right now we're going through desert. Overall, everything looks very… dry. There are small shrubs and cacti everywhere. Our windows are down and the Ipod is jammin'. Intersecting roads are mostly dirt or badly paved. The backdrop is rock formations, plateaus and such, mostly reddish brown in color. This would be a very bad place for your car to break down. We just went over a little bridge that had a sign saying we were crossing Walker Creek. I saw no water, just empty chasm lol. Now I just saw a sign saying "Soft Shoulder". What does THAT mean? The shoulder is rather small, I guess if you pull over enough, you'd end up on the dirty/shrubbery. Is that what is meant by "Soft Shoulder"? Hmmm. Also, I've been seeing one random house every 5 miles. The one I just saw has some maple or oak trees surrounding it – like 3 trees that look so very out of place here in the desert. Everything is so flat and brown and then you see a house and random trees. It's interesting that they can survive out here which definitely is not their natural environment. I guess the people who live there just water it consistently.

Okay I'm gonna take a nap and then probably switch off with Fred in an hour. TTYL!

5:00pm, MST

Okay things start getting a little more interesting in this blog…

We are approaching the northern rim of the Grand Canyon right now. It'll be another half hour before we get there. Let's just do a recap of the last few hours.
We were driving and there was like a lot of rocks and desert. It was very scenic though, much more scenic to me than Kentucky or Illinois just because of the random rock formations and the random houses in the middle of nowhere.

We visited Sonic, not the hedgehog, but the fast food place. It was my first time there, it wasn't quite what I expected in terms of how things are set up, but the food was really good. They have natural strawberry banana smoothies and tatertots that you can get with cheese if you don't want regular fries. But yeah, the set up is interesting. You can either stay in your car and drive up to a parking spot that has an intercom and menu and you can order that way. Or you can go instead to this place that basically looks like an enclosed picnic place. All it has is picnic tables and a cement floor.. and some fans for ventilation, plus the intercoms. And it's the same idea – you press the button to order and you can even pay with your credit card right on the intercom, or when they bring out your order, you can pay them with cash. God is really good because as soon as we stopped to get food, it started downpouring and HAILING. So I got that on video hehe. And when we were ready to leave, the rain died down to just a drizzle. So we are pretty sure God wanted us to stop hahahaha. Thanks God!

So we've been driving though all these mountains in the desert.. and it's kinda scary because there are like NO GUARDRAILS. The road is just banked on curves. If you are not paying attention, you could easily drive off a cliff. Don't tell my mom I said that though, she'd freak out hahaha. But yeah, it's like in those movies where there's a high speed chase on the mountainside and the bad guy loses control as he goes around a curve and flies off the cliff…. Yeah that stuff could really happen. So if you are tired, ask your friend to take over driving or.. PULL OVER! But in a way, it's sort of a thrill. I've actually enjoyed driving the past few days because of all the scenery. It's really breathtaking. You can really get in touch with nature out here. So far away from everthing, and the air is so crisp.

Now on to my GPS story. Carmen the Garmin (that's what we call our GPS) tried to get us killed. We were driving along US-89 and it said to make a left turn onto Rt. 210. Okay, no problem. It was raining heavy for a bit and so we were slowing down b/c on the GPS the road was approaching. I went to make a turn onto the road only to notice IT WAS A DIRT ROAD!!?!?!?! WHAT THE?!?! So I didn't make the turn… I just kept going straight. Would YOU turn onto a dirt road in the middle of Arizona?? In a Pontiac Vibe? No thanks, hahaha. And sure, it would have saved us 10 minutes, but if I was going to only go like 20 MPH on it, then most likely not. All we could see from the main road as we looked in that direction was like….. rock formations, shrubs, and mini canyons. No thanks. It was rather entertaining though, and of course, Carmen probably didn't know it was a dirt road, or maybe she did and was trying to get a kick out of watching us break down on a random dirt road, and die a horrible death like the people in "The Hills Have Eyes". Because that's exactly the kind of situation we would've been in hahaha.

Anyway, we are now 23 miles from the Northern Rim. The weather looks ominous but we are hoping it holds out for us. It's interesting, we are really climbing in elevation, the trees are all evergreens now and there is grass everywhere. Uh oh, it's starting to rain. There actually was a fire a little ways back down the hill, all the trees were scorched big time.
Oh let me tell you about the tailgater. So around here, the highways only have one lane going each way, and you can pass if the lines are dotted or whatever. I try not to push the car (Lilo) too hard, so I rarely bring her over 3000 rpm, especially going up the hills. Plus, I have all this junk in the trunk haha. Anyways, there was this white Chevy pickup behind me, tailgating me like that's gonna make me go faster. I was going the speed limit (65mph) and he was totally up my butt. He couldn't pass me yet b/c it was a no-passing zone, but maybe after another minute, he could pass. So, I slowed down to let him go around. He wouldn't go around right away. I'm like, what the hey. Finally he goes around. Tell me why, as soon as he's in front of me, a random really big plastic water jug (prolly can hold like 2 gallons) comes flying out the truck back at us. Luckily, he was so far in front of us that it just flew out and flew off to the side well in front of us, so we weren't in any danger. But we're pretty sure that was intended for us. First of all, we were going the speed limit, AND it was a hill. Second of all, PASS ME! If I'm going too slow for you, just PASS, why you gotta go all crazy and throw a water jug out the window lol.

People. Other than those people, everyone has been extremely friendly. I won't let one mean person put a sad smiley face on everyone else's hospitality.

But yeah, today has been pretty interesting. Okay, gonna go for now!

Update:

Saturday night, we safely arrived in St. George, Utah. But let me tell you about our adventures at the Grand Canyon..

So, as we approached it, the sky looked like it would downpour any minute. It didn't look promising. We got there, parked, and started running towards the canyon so we could get some pictures in before the downpour. Everyone was running back towards the campsites but we were running towards the canyon hehe. We started taking pictures and it started raining.. drizzling.. for like 5 minutes, but then it just stopped. So we ended up just sitting on top of a rock hill admiring the view for like 30 minutes. It was nice. The northern rim is different from the southern rim in that there is a lot of vegetation growing on the sides of the canyon. It's not barren or desert-like really. It wasn't like the pictures I've seen online or on postcards. So in that respect, I was thrown for a loop because I was expecting something completely different. In fact, the whole ride there, I was wondering why we were driving deeper and deeper into mountains that were filled with evergreens, rather than more of a desert setting. So yeah, that was pretty cool. After enjoying the view and taking tons of pictures, we ate a bit and then set on our way back down the mountains towards St. George, Utah. This is where it all gets kinda scary..

On our way down the hill, there were signs that showed a deer and said "next 30 miles." Also, they had a picture of cattle and also said "next 30 miles." We kind of just laughed at the cattle one because it seemed so random and sort of improbable that we'd run into any.
We were wrong. As the sun sunk down into the sky and night fell upon us, things started to get creepy. I drifted off to sleep, only to wake up to Fred beeping the horn at this big tan cow or cattle or whatever it was that was in the middle of the road. It was just moseying along across the road (with its black friend) and materialized out of the darkness as we came around the curve. And Fred was beeping at it like it was gonna notice and run out of the way hahahaha. Once Fred realized that beeping wasn't very effective, he swerved out of the way into the left lanes in order to avoid hitting it. I was wide awake by now hahaha. We were so shocked by what just transpired - it just was crazy because, we're descending these mountains at night, there's no streetlights or guard rails as we are scaling the side of the mountains, and these big dark figures just pop out of nowhere after a curve. OH MY GOSH. CRAZY! So Fred started putting on his high beams and just like 1 minute later, we had to go around some more cattle (although, they were more on the side of the road). So I took out my video camera to capture anymore sightings, but of course, no more random cows jumped out at us lol. I think that was really the only scary moment in our travels. Driving through mountains at night time. With random cows attacking us. But at least we weren't alone. God totally got us out of that one. And we just have another story to tell.

Sunday, August 17, 2008

At St. George, Utah, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. It was really nice, they had a pool that is both indoor and outdoor… it's all one big pool with half inside and half outside, and there's a lil passageway from inside to out, something like a doggiedog but with the carwash flaps.. hahaha.

We left St. George by 10am PST to travel to Las Vegas which was 2 hours away. Nice short drive compared to the long drives we've had up until that point. We ate at the Carnival World Buffet in the Rio Casino, and while it was like a 45 minute wait to be seated, it was so worth it. You get a lot for $22.50. Like, omgosh. They had all types of food, even prime rib and the prime rib was sooooooo good.. so succulent, it melted in my mouth. I think I mostly ate prime rib hahahaha. I'm drooling right now as I think about it. MMMMMMMmmmmm. So yeah, all other buffets suck. This place was like… a freakin.. mall foodcourt.. a big sized one, with Japanese, Italian, Chinese, Mexican, American, everything. After that, we checked into our hotel, Monte Carlo around 3pm. Rested for a bit then went to Henderson Locale for worship service. The brethren were very welcoming. After service, we went to the Poblete residence and hung out with the fam and some brethren. Let's see there was Kuya Ron, Ateh Carole, their three kids (Nico, Kiana, and Neveah), then Kuya Henry, Junen, Aldine, and some others. We showed them our wedding slideshow, some other wedding pictures, and the pictures from the first 5 days of the roadtrip. Then we took some pictures and said our goodbyes.

After that, we were pooped so we went back to the hotel and turned in.

Monday, August 18, 2008

We got a late start and ate at a Café in Monte Carlo. Pretty good breakfast. Then we checked out and started driving towards Long Beach. We stopped in Primm, Nevada to get some Lollicup at the outlet stores there. I also got a pair of sneakers. It's 2:15pm PST and we're driving towards Baker, CA to see the world's largest thermometer. Then we'll stop in San Gabriel to visit the first Lollicup ever established and then we'll make our way home.
Side note: I got Fred this shirt that says, "That's How I Roll" and has picture of toilet paper on it. He's wearing it today and so far like 5 or 6 people have complimented on how much they like the shirt hahaha. I tell them all that I got it from Target hahaha. It's just so funny b/c this one lady just stopped and said, "I hear you on that one." and pointed Fred out to her hubby and said, I need a shirt like that. Hahaha. Someone else was like, "I have to get my brother that shirt, because he always says that." Hahahaha.

Oh and we were in an elevator with like 10 people and they all started a conversation with us about how funny a shirt it is and where did I get it, and how Target and Walmart are the only stores you'll ever need. Hahahaha.

Now we're in Death Valley. Ttyl!

Update, November 12, 2008:

So, basically, I never really FINISHED my road trip journal, but I got near the end. The gist of the last few hours is, we saw the world's largest thermometer in Baker, CA, and it wasn't what I expected. It was digital, and while I know it would be most unsafe to have a mercury thermometer about 3 stories high, for some reason, what's what I expected. But it was big… kinda old looking like something from The Price is Right.. and yeah, it was big.

Hmm, after that, went to San Gabriel for our last Lollicup stop. It was amazing to know the roadtrip was almost over… we took some pictures there, parked in this interesting parking lot which seems to be common in CA, imagine a plaza, something like a U-shaped plaza with a parking lot in the middle of it…. But then there's a random opening in the middle of the parking lot where you can drive down to an underground parking lot right underneath the above ground parking lot. It was interesting to me b/c I don't think I've seen anything like that in NJ. I've seen the above ground parking structures, but nothing where you start on ground level and then randomly can go underneath hahaha.. how innovative… lol.

So then we got home… my new home.. Long Beach California. And that's where I've been ever since.

Hope you enjoyed reading this and that it was somewhat entertaining and educational hehe.

Adjusting to Cali Life

Hi everyone

Well, I've been in California for almost a month and, well, it's been pretty cool.  I'm STILL in the process of changing all my names on all my accounts though.  Kids, don't ever get married, especially if you're a girl b/c it's such a hassle to change your name.  I'm really just kidding though, okay?  hehe

Umm, things are good.  I don't know why I started writing this though, I actually have to leave in like 1 minute.  So.. I'll update you more later.  But, yeah, Cali is cool, very cool.  I of course miss Jersey though.  Very very much.

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Hi everyone,

I'm officially in Long Beach, California, as of Monday afternoon.  I'm gonna update my blog and everything to include the conclusion of the Road Trip, but for now I will just state something semi-random.

Me and Fred, we are a great team.  I am so happy that God put us together.  And at times, I'm also pleasantly surprised.  It's pretty cool.

We're pretty settled in at this point.  I have to organize the books and dvds, and some other odds and ends, and then we'll be pretty much smooth sailing.  I'm hungry.  Mr. Esguerra is doing some male bonding right now.  He's just built me several things while I took a nap - a rotating fan, a media tower, and some chairs.  Not to mention setting up the wireless network so I can get internet by the pool.  Right now he's building the foosball table.  But dude, I am not lazy - i HAD to take a nap because I basically spent the whole day setting up the rooms, unpacking and making a home for everything, and yeah.  That's tiring!

I'm hungry!

It's interesting being a grown-up.  I even cooked breakfast this morning for him!  And it turned out delicioso!  I don't know how dinners will be though.  I forgot my Rachel Ray cookbooks on the east side lol.

But this whole grown-up thing - we'll see how it goes lol.

Road trip conclusion to follow....

Saturday, August 16, 2008

Okay I will have to catch up on blogging but not right now.  Random observations though:

Denver Colorado Congregation - Small, but very friendly.  Reminds me of when SNJ first started.  You can hear birds chirping in the main sanctuary.  Gives it a very natural, woodsy feel.

Got Lollicup round two right near the chapel.  Got vanilla snow flavor.  Very good.

Colorado - lots of evergreens and hills and mountains. Very scenic.  The sunset was awesome.  Purples among the mountains and bright orange and reds right around the sun.  Will post pictures soon.

Lots of driving to do today as well.  Gonna see Four Corners and Grand Canyon.

Having the time of my life.  And so happy to be spending it with the love of my life.

I miss you all on the East Coast.  I will come visit soon.  Stay cool.

1:34pm, Central Time

Hi everyone,

We’re driving towards Kansas City, Missouri right now.  Last night we made it to Columbia, Missouri where we got our first road trip bubble tea from the Lollicup there.  It’s near University of Missouri.

And now we’re on our way to Kansas City.  We plan to try out some ribs at a place called Arthur Bryant’s which was in our Road Trip book that my friend Grace from work gave me.  I’m hungry hahaha.  But we should be there in less than an hour.  We’re also gonna buy a SLR professional camera to take nicer pictures.  Then we’ll continue another 3 hours to Hays, Kansas.

Observations of Missouri and Illinois… lots of grass & farms.  And random Fireworks superstores.  Also, at the major cities we’ve been to, everything’s very.. spacious and spread out.  It all looks relatively new and modern.

Wow, now we’re nearing Kansas City, I’m starting to see civilization.  Things are very big out here too.  There’s this random song on the ITouch playing.  The song’s like, “Everyone’s a little bit racist, everyone makes judgments based on race!”  LOL.

Okay gonna go for now!  Check out my picasa for road trip day 3 pictures!
